Notes from behind the screen of an author website designer

“Who knew code could be as captivating as a good book?”

If you’re an author and you’re struggling to figure out how to create an author website, you’ve found the right place.

I'm Kate and I help authors (like you!) create show-stopping websites that build long-term connections between you and your ideal readers.

Picture this: There I was, deep in my graduate degree for literatures, cultures, and language, when my favorite professor asked for help with her literary journal website. (Talk about a plot twist!) Before I knew it, I'd fallen for web design.

Since then, I've honed my skills in designing author websites and I understand the unique online challenges authors face.

Here's the deal: Your website needs to be a 24/7 marketing sidekick, connecting you with readers while you're busy crafting your next masterpiece. My goal is to build you a site that's not just pretty, but a powerful tool for growing your readership.

Don't worry if terms like "CSS" and "SEO" make your head spin. I've got you covered! Together, we'll create an online home that showcases your work and helps grow your readership.

Fun Facts About Me:

Non-Fiction Book I’ll Never Forget

The Surprising Power of Family Meals — Miriam Weinstein *I first read this in college and I’ll never forget how it highlighted the beautiful benefits of sitting down for dinner as a family.

Dream Literary Character Dinner Guest

Definitely Daisy Jones. I love hanging with creatives and I could see us having a blast vibing over cocktails and burgers.

Author Website Design Inspiration

I'm endlessly inspired by photographers' websites. Just like photographers tell stories through their visuals, authors can use their website design to do the same. By focusing on the design, authors can create a visually captivating website that brings readers into the worlds they create.

Audiobook or paperback?

Audio all day! Okay, okay, I LOVE a good paperback but I currently have an infant, so it’s more realistic for me to listen to books rather than sit down and read them. Plus, audiobook narrators are incredible (Imogen Church is my favorite)!
